Peter J. Vold was born in Skatual, Trondheim, Norway, on December 19, 1878, the son of Johan and Andrea Skjervold. He was baptized and confirmed in Norway. He came to America in 1898 and settled in the Hazel Run community where he was a lifelong resident and a faithful member of the Hazel Run Lutheran Church. Mr. Vold settled on a farm southwest of Hazel Run in March, 1901. The 18th of May, the same year, he was united in marriage to Hilda Johnson. To this union five children were born, namely John, Theressa (Mrs. Albin Dyrdahl), Leonard, Esther (Mrs. Milford Jacobson), all of Hazel Run and Helma (Mrs. Alton Hanson) of Clarkfield. In 1911, Mr. Vold returned to Norway for a visit with relatives and friends. He was prominent in many community activities. He served on boards of the church, school, hospital, town and elevator for many years. Mr. Vold was blessed with perfect health until September. He entered the Clarkfield Community Hospital on November 11th, 1960, and passed away on the 23rd at the age of 81 years. Left to mourn his passing are his wife, five children, ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and twelve nieces and nephews in Norway, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
