IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Peter C
Eidem
January 21, 1882 – June 10, 1964
Peter C. Eidem was born January 21, 1882, the son of Peter and Thomasina (Tandstad) Eidem, in Sykkylven, Sonmor, Norway. He was baptized and confirmed in Sykkylven Church in Norway by Rev. Roald. He came to America in 1901 at the age of 19 and went to his cousin's home, Tom Grefstad, at Echo, Minnesota. He began working for a railroad in Moline, Illinois, and in 1906, while working in this capacity he accidently had both legs severed by a locomotive. Following this accident he returned to the Echo community and lived with the George Engel family for sometime, following which he bought a farm in the Clarkfield community. A short time later his nephew, Haakon Vik, of Chicago lost his wife and he brought his two young sons, James and Robert, to Mr. Eidem's home. Mr. Vik became sick so Mr. Eidem raised these two boys. Mr. Eidem passed away June 10, 1964, at Seattle, Washington, where he spent the winter with relatives. Left to mourn his passing are his nephew, Haakon, of Seattle, Washington, his two grandnephews, Robert and James of Seattle; one nephew and two nieces in Norway; cousins, Tom and Sigvart Grefstad of Clarkfield; besides a host of friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters and nephews, Ole Rodseth of Chicago and Pete Rodseth of Clarkfield. IN MEMORY OF PETER C.
