Peter H. Berkvam was born in Stony Run Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, on January 30, 1876, the son of Ole and Ingebor (Ogaard) Berkvam. He was confirmed by Rev. Ole Lokensgaard in the Bergen Lutheran Church. On March 17, 1907, he was united in marriage to Nettie Hyne of Rio, Wisconsin. This union was blessed with two sons, Orton and Melvin. His wife passed away on March 30, 1922, leaving him with two young sons to raise. He has made his home with his son, Orten, in Hazel Run since 1940. Mr. Berkvam became ill on September 2, 1957, and was taken to the Clarkfield Hospital where he passed away Wednesday, September 11, 1957, at the age of 81 years and seven months. He leaves to mourn his passing his two sons, Orten and Melvin of Hazel Run, and one sister, Mrs. Emma Olson of Clarkfield. IN MEMORY OF PETER H.
