Pat was born to Clara and Andrew Dahlberg in Clarkfield, Minnesota, on December 6, 1937. After her father passed away, when she was two years old, her mother married Arthur J. Stueland. Art adopted Pat as his own and her name was changed to Stueland. Pat graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1955 and from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1959. She taught physical education, health, and biology in the Minneapolis suburbs before moving to St. Louis, Missouri. There she taught in a private Catholic school system and eventually was trained in the Montessori Schools. She and Gretl Reiterer, a friend, bought and directed the South Dayton Montessori School for several years in Dayton, OH. Upon retirement, Pat and Gretl moved to Clarkfield, Minnesota, where Pat enjoyed small town life and also Senior College in Marshall, Minnesota. She loved the friendships gathered there as well as the education acquired. She also volunteered at the Food Shelf in Clarkfield. Her vitality and fun ways earned her many friends. She was always willing to listen and help to support friends and family. She made many friends in Dayton; taught many children who remember her fondly; and also enjoyed Clarkfield as her home for the last few years. Pat passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2006, at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, Iowa, at the age of 68 years . She is survived by two sisters: Madlyn Stueland of Clarkfield and Sharon Olson of Waukon, Iowa; brother-in-law Dr. Kenneth Olson of Waukon, Iowa; niece and husband, Lori Jo and Micah Morris of St. Louis Park, Minnesota; nephew Brett Kenneth Olson of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; four aunts, Elda Kopitzke of Clarkfield, Evelyn (uncle Harlan) Kruger of Willmar, Minnesota, Helen Stueland of Granite Falls, Minnesota, and Ruth Kopitzke of California; and special friends, Gretl Reiterer of Waukon, Iowa, and Charles Anderson of Clarkfield; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Stueland and mother Clara Kopitzke Dahlberg Stueland. Blessed be her memory.
