Palmer Clarence Strand was born June 24, 1908 in Baxter Township, Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota to parents Peder C. and Caroline (Lageson) Strand. He was baptized on August 9, 1908 and confirmed November 25, 1923 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church of Baxter Township. Palmer attended District #30 (Baxter Township) and Lutheran Normal School at Madison. He married Mildred Flaa on August 24, 1934. They were the parents of Paul and Janet. Palmer and Mildred farmed their entire life. They resided on the farm until their move to Brookside Manor in January of 1994. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church where he served as a Trustee. He also served as a School Board Member of District #56. Palmer passed away on Friday, February 10, 1995 at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital at the age of 86 years. He is survived by his family: Paul and Lu Strand, and Janet and David Gabrielson. He is also survived by eight Grandchildren, 12 great Grandchildren, sister, Pearl Carlson of Western Springs. Illinois, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mildred, and brother, Elliot Strand.
