Otto H. Lachelt was born on July 25, 1911, to William and Augusta (Loose) Lachelt in Tyro Township of Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. Otto was the youngest of 11 children. He was baptized in 1911 and confirmed in 1924, both at Zion Lutheran Church of Tyro Township, where he was a lifelong member. He attended rural School District #49. Otto married Minerva Biel on March 19, 1933, at Zion Lutheran Church of Tyro Township, by Pastor Louis Rosin. They were the parents of a son, Raymond. Otto and Minerva farmed in the Boyd, Clarkfield and Montevideo area. In addition to farming, Otto worked with Mork's Electric, building REA lines in numerous states. He also was employed by the Clarkfield Public Schools as a bus driver. Otto retired from farming in 1976. Otto and Minerva celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 1983. Minerva passed away in 1986, but Otto continued to live on the farm with his son Ray. He enjoyed gardening and shared his produce with many friends and neighbors. Otto passed away at his home near Clarkfield, Minnesota, on Saturday, August 19, 2000, at the age of 89 years and 26 days. He leaves to mourn his son Raymond; sister-in-law Elsie Lachelt; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife and all his siblings: Edward (in infancy), Albert, William, John, Louis, Leo, Olga (Malkow Bartz), Clara Werner, Louise Werth and Lydia Galow.
