Oscar Alexander Simonson, son of Simon and Mary (Joel) Simonson, was born May 8, 1910, at Hanley Falls, Minnesota. In infancy, he was baptized by Pastor Ole Lokensgaard. On August 9, 1925, he confirmed his baptismal promises in the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church, Hanley Falls, before Pastor Lokensgaard. He was united in marriage with Edith Lindblad of Hanley Falls. To the union, one child was born. He spent his lifetime engaged in farming and working in the village of Hanley Falls. He served his country in the U.S. Army, serving in Europe 1944-45. He had been in failing health the past few years and passed away at the Veterans' Hospital in Minneapolis, on the noon of March 8, 1970, at the age of 59 years. He was preceded in death by his father. Surviving to mourn his passing are his wife, Edith; his daughter Mrs. Corine LaLande of Anaheim, California; his mother, Mrs. Mary Simonson of Granite Falls, Minnesota; two sisters: Mrs. Thelma Johnson of Hanley Falls, and Mrs. Alvhild Bottge of Renville, Minnesota; two brothers: Marcellus Simonson of Wood Lake, Minnesota, and Roy Berg of Gales Ferry, Connecticut; together with other relatives and friends.
