Oscar Shefveland, a resident of the Clarkfield area from 1919 until 1951, was returned to this community for burial on July 31, 1972. He reached the age of 86 years. Mr. Shefveland was born in Story County, Iowa, on May 29, 1886, and passed away on July 27, 1972, at the Martin Luther Manor in Bloomington, Minnesota. He had been in poor health of several years but was hospitalized just since May. On October 7, 1908, sixty-four years ago this fall, he was united in marriage to Malina Teig. From Iowa, the family moved to southern Minnesota, in the Lakefield community before coming to Clarkfield in 1919. They farmed south of Clarkfield till 1921 when they moved to the place west of Clarkfield where they remained till 1951 when they moved to the cities. The Shefvelands were blessed with five children: Ruby, who died in 1921, Eunice (Mrs. Alvin Swenson) who passed away in 1955, Orrin who lives in Minneapolis, Stanley of Ellsworth, Wisconsin, and Merle of Coon Rapids, Minnesota. They have fifteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Since moving to Minneapolis, he held various jobs. They resided at 6804 14th Ave South, where his wife now lives. He is also survived by one sister, Esther (Mrs. Ed Erickson) of Lakefield, Minnesota. Along with his two daughters, he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
