Oscar Theodore Persons was born November 28, 1874, at Lester, Minnesota, the son of Carl Olof and Tilda Persons. He was baptized and confirmed at Christdala Lutheran Church. As a young man, he spent many years in North Dakota and Montana as a rancher. On December 27, 1911, he was united in marriage to Christina Olson. They moved to Reeder, North Dakota, where they farmed for more than 30 years. They were members of Wolf Butte Lutheran Church. They retired to Hettinger, North Dakota, for a few years where they were members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. They desired to return to Minnesota and so resided with her brother, Ernest Olson until the illness of his wife. Mr. and Mrs. Persons lived at the home of Mrs. Anna Rodness, a sister, during her long illness and at which time Oscar patientley cared for his invalid wife. Four years ago, he became a resident of the Madison Lutheran Home. He fell while leaving chapel on Sunday, May 6, 1962, and suffered a fractured hip. He responded to surgery but complications set in and he passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday morning, June 7, 1962, at the age of 87 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, all his sisters and brothers, namely Ida, Inez, Bertha, Theressa, Anna, Wilhelmina, Charles, Ernest and Emil. A number of nieces and nephews and sisters-in-law, survive. IN MEMORY OF OSCAR T.
