Ole Farseth and confirmed on September 8, 1912, at the same church by Rev. E.C. Eid. On October 5, 1927, he was united in marriage to Irene Jacobson at Clarkfield by Rev. O.M.O. Wee. Oscar served in an infantry division of the United States Army during World War I, from October, 1918 until January, 1919. After his discharge, he worked several years doing carpenter work on elevators. Then in 1928 he began buying grain in the local Great Western Elevator, which he served for eight years, then with the Pacific Elevator and when the Farmers Co-op elevator purchased the Pacific, he served as manager for the Co-op until 1947. Due to his health, he quit the elevator work. In the summer of 1952, he bought the recreation parlor here and in 1957 his wife started the coffee shop in connection with the business, which they still have. Oscar entered the Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on December 12, 1966, and slept peacefully away the morning of March 9, 1967, having reached the age of 70 years. He is survived by his wife, four daughters, three sons, eleven grandchildren, two sisters and one brother: Cora (Mrs. George Jacobson) of Braham, Minnesota, Gladys (Mrs. Oscar Bestland) of Hanley Falls, Minnesota, and Lloyd of Clarkfield. His parents preceded him in death, as did three sisters: Mrs. Ida Ellingson, Hannah and Alvina; three brothers: Henry, Manford and Forest; and one grandson, Garry Kise, son of the Ordean Kises of Lakewood California, December 21, 1966, at the age of ten years.
