Oscar O. Jorgenson was born January 1, 1885, on a farm south of Boyd, Minnesota, in Yellow Medicine County, the son of Elias and Helena (Brekke) Jorgenson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Clarkfield, Minnesota. Oscar learned the trade of welder at the McDougal Shipyards at Riverside, Duluth, Minnesota. He then had his own welding shop at Moorhead, Minnesota, for five years. During the following years, he was employed at Calumet, Minnesota, Marine Shipbuilding in Duluth, State of Mississippi and St. Paul. During World War II, he went back to Marine Shipyards at Duluth. When the war was over, he retired and returned to Boyd to make his home with his mother on the farm. It was during this time that he went into parnership with his brother, Harry, and purchased his mother's farm and together, they resided on the farm with their sister, Thelma. He is survived by three brothers and two sisters: George of Duluth, Minnesota, Elmer of Clearbrook, Minnesota, Effie (Mrs. Elmer Risa) of Hanley Falls, Minnesota, and Thelma and Harry of Boyd; a number of nieces and nepwhews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and six brothers. IN MEMORY OF OSCAR O.
