Oscar Michael Johnson was born November 9, 1898, in Jackson County, Minnesota, the son of Michael and Petra (Grinager) Johnson. He was baptized July 23, 1899, at the Delafield Lutheran Church and moved to Clarkfield with his father and family at the age of 11. He was confirmed at Clarkfield Lutheran Church by Rev. O.T. Storaasli on May 24, 1914. Except for a period of time spent in the Army in World War II and several months in Canada with his brother, Melvin, and family in 1923, he made Clarkfield his home. He worked as a meat cutter for some time and also worked many years with the City Dray Line. He entered the Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, about five and one-half weeks ago and passed away on April 21, 1963, at the age of 65 years. His parents and brother, John, preceded him in death. Oscar is survived by four sisters: Mrs. Oscar Nesterud of Madelia, Minnesota, Mrs. William Lee of Clarkfield, Mrs. Agnes Lodoen of Provost, Alberta, Canada, and Mrs. Pearl M. Olson of St. Paul; three brothers: Melvin of Domremy, Saskatchewan, Canada, Elmer of Flint, Michigan, and Cyril of Hanley Falls, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews and other relatives.
