Funeral Services were held for Oscar Eckhardt, November 26, 1983, at 11:00 a.m. from Trinity Lutheran Church of Boyd, Minnesota, officiated by Pastor Scott Jorgenson. Vernon Stevens was organist and soloist. Casket Bearers were Merril Knutson, Marriam Nilson, Don Lee, Todd, Walkingstick, Gene Ness and Charles Nelson. Oscar Leo Eckhardt was born December 10, 1900 to Fred and Minnie (Fenske) Eckhardt at Bancroft, Iowa. He was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. On December 25, 1933, he was married to Alpha Nelson. For many years he had a general merchandise store with his father and brother, Alfred. He was a member of the Fire Department, Boyd Booster Club, Boyd Rod and Gun Club, School board, City Council, Church ouncil, bank board and Senior Citizens. Aside from community activities, Oscar was an avid fisherman and gardener. Mr. Eckhardt passed away November 23, 1983 at his home in Boyd at age 82. Survivors include a son, Fred; daughter Louise (Mrs. Gary) Carpentier; four sisters, Mrs. Selma Peterson, Mrs. Elsa Drew, Mrs. Louella Morris and Mrs. Neva Johnson, all of California; and a brother, Wilfred of Storden, Minnesota.
