Orville Douglas Long was born at Adair, Iowa, April 4, 1902, of the parents, Andy and Millie (Reed) Long. He moved with his parents, sisters and brothers to a farm south of Clarkfield when he was nine years old. He was baptized and confirmed by Rev. Alf Jorgenson of Hanley Falls. On August 9, 1924, he was united in marriage to Vina Granell of Clarkfield. To this union seven children were born, namely, Orvilla (Mrs. Gordon Johnson) of Willmar, Minnesota, Darris of Anoka, Bonnie (Mrs. Luverne Dyrdahl) of Hazel Run, Wanda (Mrs. William Bailie) of Anoka, Minnesota, Darrell of Hazel Run, Beverly (Mrs. Donald Thostenson) of Hanley Falls, Minnesota, and Dennis at home. Deceased was engaged in farming until March, 1952, when he and his wife purchased the cafe in Hazel Run which they still operated at the time of his death. He passed away at his home, Saturday morning, July 5, 1958, at the age of 56 years, three months and one day. Deceased is survived by his wife and children, four sons-in-law, an aged father and five brothers and sisters, namely, Pearl (Mrs. Henry Ernst), Melville, Mrs. Devota Walls, Boyd, Murvel (Mrs. Everette Loomis) all of Clarkfield.
