Orville Alton Husby was born October 25, 1913, on a farm near Boyd, Minnesota. He was baptized by Rev. E.C. Eid and confirmed by Rev. Martin Lien at St. Petri Lutheran Church. He was a member of Clarkfield Lutheran Church at the time of his death. Orville attended rural school in Lac qui Parle County and graduated from Boyd High School in 1932. He attended Northern Normal College in Aberdeen, South Dakota. In January 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as gunner's mate, second class aboard the USS Brooklyn. He was in the major battles of Casablanca, Anzio Beachhead and Palermo, Sicily. He was honorably dischared September 5, 1945, after serving 42 months. On June 7, 1945, he was united in marriage to Elise Westre at the Clarkfield Lutheran Church. To this union, three children were born, namely, Wesley, Craig and Dagne. Orville passed away November 3, 1960, at the age of 47 years. His health had been failing for many years and he had submitted to surgery and several times was hospitalized. He will be missed by his wife and three children; his mother, Mrs. Anna Husby; two brothers, Elmer and Arthur of Clarkfield; two sisters, Esther Asbjorenson of Dawson, Minnesota, and Alice (Mrs. Harry Kirkeby) of Clarkfield. His father, Ole E. Husby, preceded him in death in 1946. IN MEMORY OF ORVILLE A.
