Orville "Bob" Hilding Odden was born November 1, 1923, to Steinar and Marian (Hagan) Odden, at Hazel Run, Minnesota. He was baptized in 1924 and confirmed June 5, 1938 at the Hazel Run Lutheran Church. He lived his entire life in Hazel Run. He attended school in District #28 rural Hazel Run. He entered the Army during World War II on May 23, 1944, and was discharged January 10, 1946. He was in France, Germany, Luxemberg, Belguim and England while in the infantry. On August 11, 1961, Bob was united in marriage to Sandra Kay Johnson at Brookings, South Dakota. To this union, two children, Cindy and Louie were born. After returning from service he worked for farmers, a mechanic for Mooney's Road Construction, for several years ran the VFW at Granite Falls and in later years helped his brother Charles farm. In 1970 he had cancer surgery. Bob was active in the Hazel Run Church and the V.F.W. Orville "Bob" Odden passed away, at his home, on Tuesday, August 10, 1993 at the age of 69. He is survived by his wife: Sandra; daughter: Cindy (Mrs. Gary) Hendrickx of Fergus Falls, Minnesota; son: Louie Odden of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; grandson: McKenzie Hendrickx of Fergus Falls; sisters: Erma (Mrs. Harry) Iverson of Echo; Alice (Mrs. Darwin) Vick of Astoria, South Dakota; Aunt: Alice (Mrs. Lawrence) Cliffgaard of Clarkfield; sister-in-law: DeeLores Sandberg of Granite Falls; brother-in-law: Melford Iverson of Clara City; and a host of nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents: Steinar and Marian Odden; brothers: Harold (Bud); and Charles Odden; sister: Anna Carol (Sis) Iverson; and nephew: Greg Odden.
