Obituary

Orville Theodore Hanson, eldest son of Hans and Marie (Ness) Hanson, was born near Britt, Iowa, February 26, 1894. Here he was baptized in the Lutheran faith by Rev. Holm. At the age of eight years, he moved with the family to a farm in Swede Prairie Township. On May 2, 1908, he was confirmed by Rev. T.H. Haugen at St. Lucas Lutheran Church. Orville was united in marriage to Miss Marie Gudmundson, also of Swede Prairie, on December 12, 1917. The first two years of their marriage were spent on a farm in Tyro Township, near Clarkfield. In December, 1920, they moved to his boyhood farm home in Swede Prairie where they lived until the spring of 1944, when the family moved to a farm southwest of Cottonwood. On the morning of February 26, 1951, (his 57th birthday) he suffered a severe heart attack and passed away at 6:10 a.m. Surviving are his wife and four children, namely Howard and Bertha of Cottonwood, Charlotte (Mrs. Joe Hoff) of Clarkfield, and Una Marie, a student at Concordia College of Moorhead. One grandchild, Kathryn Hoff, also survives; besides two sisters: Mrs. Louis Moe and Mrs. Lawrence Olson, both of Dawson, Minnesota; and four brothers: Henry of Benson, Minnesota, Randalle, of Cottonwood, Minnesota, Manford of Boyd, Minnesota, and Clifford who lives at Aberdeen, South Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
