Orin Rueben Willander was born on March 2, 1909 in Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, to parents Edwin and Clara (Johnson) Willander. He was engaged in farming until he was inducted into the service. He entered the Army on October 14, 1942, and served overseas. He was in the camouflage unit and worked for the Air Force in France and all over Europe. After completing his military duty, he returned to farming. Orin was well known as he lived in this community all his life. He passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 1997, at the Clarkfield Care Center at the age of 88 years and 10 days. He is survived by two sisters, Ruth Willander of Clarkfield and Junette (Mrs. Kenneth Yeider) of Edmonds, WA; one brother Elsmore Willander of Sherman, TX; a number of nieces and nephews; relatives and friends. Orin was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and six sisters. Blessed be his memory.
