Ordell Jerome Lovsness was born January 4, 1911, in Cottonwood to Edward and Clara (Kise) Lovsness. He worked for the Cottonwood Telephone Company, the world's First Co-op Oil Company of Cottonwood and began farming on his own in March of 1943. The 400 acre Century Farm in Yellow Medicine County is now farmed by his grandson, Tim Pehrson. Ordell was active in Farmers Union, Lions Club, and a bowling team that was functional for 37 years. He was a beloved father, husband, brother, neighbor, church member, and friend. "Esky" had retired 21 years ago and lived on Cottonwood Lake. He was married one week and a half short of 63 years to Myrtle Antonia (Anderson) Lovsness. Ordell passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 1998 at the Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar at the age of 87 years, 11 months, and 13 days. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle, and three daughters; Brenda (and Dan) Skaret of Saskatoon, Sask, Canada; Connie (and Kenneth) Pehrson of Cottonwood; and Ina (and Iver) Christopherson of rural Redwood Falls. He is also survived by grandchildren: David (and Kim) Skaret of Edmonton, Canada; Diane (and Lowell) Johnson of Sask., Canada; Gregory (and Heather) Skaret of Ottawa, Canada; Cindy (and Lee) Ek of Lakeland, FL; Brian (and Nancy) Pehrson of Cottonwood; Timothy (and Colleen) Pehrson of Cottonwood; Stacy (and Phillip) Vollands of Houston, TX; Kevin Christopherson, and Marshall (and Rebecca) Christopherson of Minneapolis,MN. Also surviving are great grandchildren: Karley, Siri, Jaime, Alanna, Sarah, Kjersten, Courtney, "Buddy", Cody, Jaymie, Crystal, Alissa, Isaac, Alex, and Eric and sister Celda Mercie. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jerold and son Steven Ordell Lovsness. Blessed be his memory.
