Ordell Lauris Cole was born August 25, 1926, to Lewis N. and Hannah (Hagen) Cole in Sandnes Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church in Hanley Falls, Minnesota. He attended Country School District #10 and one year at Hanley Falls Public School. On September 7, 1947, he was united in marriage to Elvera Henke at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wood Lake, Minnesota. They were the parents of four children, three daughters and a son. Ordell ("Tiny") was a farmer who enjoyed tilling the soil, planting and harvesting the crop and caring for livestock. His son, Lauris, joined him in farming and together they worked side by side up through this final harvest. Ordell was a lifelong member of Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church where he served on the church council for many years. He was also a member of the Hanley Falls Co-op Elevator Board and the Cottonwood School Board. He enjoyed traveling and attending his grandchildren's sports and concert events. Ordell passed away at the Granite Falls Hospital, Granite Falls, Minnesota, on December 11, 1999, at the age of 73 years, 3 months and 17 days. He is survived by his wife Elvera; daughters: Gwen (Rick) Pelowski of Maple Grove, Minnesota, Monica (Dale) Buckholz of Alexandria, Minnesota, Jane (Mark) Vandelanotte of Cottonwood, Minnesota; son Lauris of Hanley Falls; and four grandchildren: Paul and Jeffrey Pelowski and Abby and Bayli Vandelanotte. He is also survived by sister Mabel Weeks of Pipestone, Minnesota; brother Harold Cole of New London, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Hannah Cole; brothers Leonard, Marvin, Art, Rudolph, Adolph, Palmer, and Selmer; and sister Hazel. Blessed be his memory.
