Oluf A. Thompson was born on a farm in Westerheim Township on January 20, 1896, to Thore K. and Isabel (Iverson) Thompson. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Lucas Lutheran Church. On August 21, 1921, he was united in marriage to Emma Peterson of Swede Prairie Township of Yellow Medicine County. They were blessed with nine children. Oluf spent years selling cars, then had his own garage in Walnut Grove and Lynd. In 1944 he returned to farming until his retirement. He passed away at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Minneapolis, July 26, 1975, at the age of 79 years. Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Emma; children: Viola (Mrs. Ernest Neuman) of Hanley Falls, Minnesota, Doris (Mrs. Harvey Stenerson) of Russell, Minnesota, Victor of Rapid City, South Dakota, Virgil of Cottonwood, Arline (Mrs. Richard Garry) of Edina, Minnesota, Frank of Marshall, Minnesota, Beverly (Mrs. Douglas Anderson) of Edina, Minnesota, Ruth Ann (Mrs. Darrell Young) of Apple Valley, Minnesota, and Tom of Marshall, Minnesota; 26 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two brothers: Knute of Cottonwood and Marvin of Marshall; two sisters: Rosan (Mrs. Roy Meyers) of Cottonwood, and Mae (Mrs. Lars Anderson) of Irene, South Dakota. Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters, Delta and Mary, and three grandchildren. IN MEMORY OF OLUF A.
