Obituary

Mrs. Olga Amelia (Rosnow) Wiegers was born on June 5, 1879, at Vansburg, West Prussia, Germany, the daughter of William Rosnow and Henrietta (Hinz) Rosnow. As a child, she was received into the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ by the washing of regeneration in holy baptism, and renewed that baptismal covenant in the rite of confirmation in Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church of Ward, South Dakota. When a child of four she accompanied her parents to the United States settling in Hoopeston, Illinois, where the family continued to live for three years. In 1886 the family moved to Ward, South Dakota, where they took up their residence on a farm. It was here on June 16, 1898, that our departed sister in Christ was joined in holy wedlock with Mr. Henry Wiegers. The Lord blessed His children with three sons and two daughters, of whom three children still remain to mourn their mother's departure: Mrs. Leo Lachelt of Montevideo, Minnesota, Walter Wiegers of Boyd, Minnesota, and Elmer Wiegers of Omro Township. Leo and Dora Wiegers preceded their parents in death. The Lord blessed the departed sister and her husband with nearly 60 years of married life. Her life was marked by periodic hospitalization, and for the last 18 months her health continued to fail. Following the departure of her husband, who had so faithfully cared for her at home, she had to be hospitalized. She suffered a fatal stroke on July 2nd and departed this life early on July 3, 1958, having reached the age of 79 years and 27 days. In addition to the surviving sons and daughters, there are also six grandchildren and four great grandchildren surviving. Mention should also be made of Mr. Harold Jaeck, who made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Wiegers for a time after the death of his mother. Five brothers and sisters survive, namely, Mrs. Mathilda Kiecksee of Flandreau, South Dakota, Mrs. Paul Klitzke of Ruthton, Minnesota, Mrs. Bertha Caldwell of Presho, South Dakota, Emil Rosnow of Anaheim, California, and Gustav Rosnow of Milaca, Minnesota.
