Obituary

Olga Beta Benson was born on January 18, 1893, at Hecla, South Dakota, to Knute and Johanne (Saure) Benson. She was baptized by Rev. L. H. Buide on March 19, 1893. The family moved to a farm near Echo, Minnesota, in 1893 and in 1905 they moved again, to a farm southwest of Clarkfield in Tyro township. Olga was confirmed at Israel Lutheran Church on August 25, 1907, by Rev. T. J. Oppedahl. In 1927 Olga, with her father, brother John, and sister Hannah, moved to Clarkfield where they built a home and where she continued to live till she became a resident of the Clarkfield Care Center. Olga always was a caring person, caring for her mother, her father and her brother John in their ailing years. She often, when times were hard and future uncertain, would quote Deuteronomy 33:25, "as your days are, so shall your strength be". She was employed several years at the school and hospital as cook and housekeeper. Olga died May 7, 1987, at the Clarkfield Care Center. Olga will be remembered by her nieces, nephews, and friends, for the good home she made, always making you feel welcomed. For the good meals, her baking and sewing. For the giving of herself, for others and sharing Christ's love in many ways. The latter years it meant so much to her when you had devotion and prayer with her; even at times when you wondered how much she understood, she'd repeat Bible verses and pray with you and then would say, "come back soon". Olga was preceded in death by her parents, twin brothers Ole and Bennie, brothers Robert, John, Arthur, and sister Hannah and nephew Robert Jr. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
