Agre
September 4, 1876 – July 4, 1959
Ole J. Agre was born in Baxter Township, Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota, on September 4, 1876, of the parents Jacob and Randi (Eik) Agre. He passed away July 4, 1959, at the Dawson Hospital, at the age of 82 years and 10 months. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. The family moved from Baxter to their farm in Ten Mile Lake Township, where Ole attended school in District 68. He attended Watertown High School and the Willmar Business College. After this he returned to his farm home where he engaged in farming. On June 30, 1902, he was united in marriage to Dena Thompson. They established their home on the farm adjoining the home of his parents. Three children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Agre: Leonard, who resides in Boyd, Evelyn, who died at the age of three years during the flu epidemic in 1918, and Myrtle (Mrs. Helmer Hermanson), who died at the age of 30 following automobile accident injuries in 1937. Mrs. Agre died in 1916 at the age of 38 years. Mr. Agre has been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd since its organization in 1889, serving as a trustee and cemetery board member for many years. He served as township clerk of Ten Mile Lake Township for fourteen years, county commissioner for twelve years, chairman of the Board of Township Supervisors for twelve years. He was clerk of School District 68 for over fifty years. In 1933 he was active in the organization of the Madison Production Credit Association, and was president and director of the Boyd Farmers' Elevator and Mercantile Company for over 40 years, and also served as president of this organization. Besides immediate family members preceding him in death were three brothers, one sister, and a great granddaughter, Ann Louise, who died at the age of four years. He leaves to mourn his departure his son, Leonard of Boyd, and granddaughter, Lois Ann (Mrs. Derrald Erie) of Windom, Minnesota, and four brothers and three sisters, namely: John of Redlands, California, Emily (Mrs. Olaf Moen), Joseph, Bennie, Gena (Mrs. Alfred Stenson), Richard, and Olava (Mrs. Oscar L.
