Mr. Olaus M. Kirkeby was born December 12, 1879, on the homestead north of Clarkfield, Minnesota. His parents were Martin O. and Karina Kirkeby. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Clarkfield. Olaus was united in marriage to Inga Marie Olsen on June 26, 1909. Inga Kirkeby passed away on May 16, 1948. On August 9, 1949, he was united in marriage to Rachel M. Olsen. Rachel Kirkeby passed away on June 7, 1973. The past three months Olaus had been a resident of the Clarkfield Care Center. He passed away at the Clarkfield Hospital on October 1, 1973. He leaves to mourn his passing five daughters and three sons: Marian (Mrs. Clarence Hanson) of Montevideo, Minnesota, Charlotte (Mrs. Henrik Vik) of San Antonio, Texas, Grace Wold of Palo Alto, California, Helen (Mrs. Waldemar Anderson) of Clarkfield, Dorothy (Mrs. Dave Peterson) of Woodside, California, Harry of Clarkfield, Juel of Big Lake, Minnesota, and Lloyd of Clarkfield; 22 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
