Olai A. Kittelson was born October 8, 1876, near Hanley Falls, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, the son of Ole and Liva (Olson) Kittelson. He was baptized, instructed and confirmed by Rev. Thorstenson, pioneer pastor of this community. He grew to manhood in the Hanley Falls community where he attended public and parochial school. On March 11, 1903, he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Anderson of Cottonwood. Two children blessed their union: Hartford Kittelson of Hazel Run, and Mrs. George Olson of Granite Falls. Mr. Kittelson moved with his family to the Clarkfield community about the year 1910. Here he farmed for 35 years until the year 1945, when he retired and moved to Hazel Run. He and Mrs. Kittelson made their home there until his death. They retained their membership in the Clarkfield Norwegian Lutheran Church. Mr. Kittelson entered the Clarkfield Community Memorial Hospital for observation late in July, was released and re-entered the hospital the first part of August. Death came Wednesday, August 22, 1951, at 2:30 p.m. Surviving Mr. Kittelson are his wife; his two children; two grandchildren: Dennis and Lois Kittelson; son-in-law and daughter-in-law; four sisters, three brothers and a host of relatives and friends.
