Olaf Sannerud was born June 18, 1887, in Lorenskog, Norway, the son of Cunnerius and Kristina Sannerud. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Lorenskog. He came to America at the age of 18 to the home of Olaf Jacobson at Hazel Run, Minnesota. He worked for many years as foreman for tiling work for the county before he began work at the Hazel Run Elevator. He worked at the latter until his retirement. For many years, he made his home with Mrs. Elizabeth Mikelson, then with Mrs. Gertrude Christensen. The last five years he made his home with his brother, Chris, after a period at the Alfred Andersons. Olaf became ill this past summer and entered the Granite Falls Hospital in August for several weeks. He re-entered there in November, passing away December 7, 1966, at the age of 79 years. He leaves to mourn his passing two brothers: Chris of Hazel Run, and Gustav of Lorenskog, Norway; fourteen nieces and nephews in Norway and five in America; and eleven great nieces and nephews. His parents, two sisters: Thea and Karen, and a brother, Alex, preceded him in death. Gustav came from Norway this past summer for a visit, the first time with his brothers for 58 years.
