Olaf Edward Risa passed away Thursday, April 12, 1990, at the Granite Falls Hospital, Granite Falls, Minnesota, at the age of 76 years 7 months and 4 days. Olaf was born September 8, 1913, in Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to parents Michael L. and Anna (Hoversten) Risa. He was baptized by Reverand M. Romstad on October 5, 1913, at St. Lucas Lutheran Church and confirmed by Reverand A. Haugland at Hazel Run Lutheran Church. He attended the University of Minnesota at Morris, Minnesota for one year in 1929. In the early 1930's he served in the Conservation Corps in Northern Minnesota. He was united in marriage to Ina G. Wilson on October 8, 1938, at the Hazel Run Lutheran Parsonage. To this union a daughter Kathryn, son Ronald and daughter Julie were born. He farmed for many years in Hazel Run Township and served on the Elevator Board and the Hazel Run School Board. Olaf and Ina celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in October 1988. Olaf is survived by his wife Ina; daughter Kathryn of Minneapolis, Minnesota; son Ronald and wife Marie of Hazel Run, Minnesota; daughter Julie of Benson, Minnesota; sisters Thelma Risa of Clarkfield, Minnesota, Mildred Sandstrom of Ely, Minnesota, Helen Batdorf of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Ethel Russell oF Brookfield, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Todd and wife Lori, Jeff Risa, Beth, James and Nathan Schmidt; and three great grandchildren, Jennifer, Jamie and Steven Risa. Olaf was preceded in death by his parents, Michael L. and Anna Risa; two brothers, Arlen and Elmer; and one sister Amy.
