Olaf O. Erickson was born in Fillmore County, Minnesota, on January 27, 1871, the son of Ole and Bertha Erickson. There he was baptized in the Lutheran faith and confirmed by Rev. Hoff in Baxter Township, Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota, where the family moved when he was three years of age. He grew to manhood on a farm in Baxter and was united in marriage to Mathilda Amundson on June 11, 1894. They settled on a farm three and one-half miles from Boyd where they lived until his retirement in 1937. The next few years he spent visiting his daughers. The past 15 years he has resided in Minneapolis with his daughter, Edna, until a year ago when he moved to the Ebenezer Home where he passed away on December 2, 1961, at the age of 90 years. Mr. Erickson held positions of trust in both church and community including school board and trustee of Trinity Lutheran Church. Surviving are his five daughters: Dora (Mrs. S.H. Lukken) of Boyd, Florence (Mrs. Edward Holum) of Seattle, Washington, Alma (Mrs. George Hanson) of Clarkfield, Jennie (Mrs. Carl Tennefor) of Fargo, North Dakota, and Edna (Mrs. Knut Angrimson) of Minneapolis; 19 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren. Preceding Mr. Erickson in death were his parents; his wife in July, 1935; his son, Oscar, in infancy; his daughter, Alice (Mrs. Grant Jordahl) in December, 1955; granddaughter, Margaret Lukken Dahl, in April, 1945; grandson, Alden Hanson, May, 1961; three brothers and two sisters.
