Norman Vagle, the son of John and Martha (Haaland) Vagle, was born at Hanley Falls, Minnesota, on November 15, 1900. He was baptized at the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church on February 10, 1901, by Rev. S.J. Njaa and confirmed in the same church by Rev. Ole Lokensgaard in 1915. On March 31, 1935, he was united in marriage to Myrtle Swenson of the same community by Rev. Alf Jorgenson. Norman was engaged in the dray and mail service until 1944 when he entered the general store business at Hanley Falls. Upon his retirement in 1961, he continued to reside with his wife, Myrtle, at Hanley Falls where he became known for his artistic ability in his retirement occupation of bird house construction. He passed away at his home on the morning of July 20, 1967, at the age of 66 years. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle; one daughter, Mrs. Bonnie Samuels of Chicago, Illinois; three grandchildren; three brothers: Selian and Malon of Hanley Falls, and Julian of Minneapolis; two sisters: Delia Olson of Hanley Falls and Selma (Mrs. George Peterson) of Spicer, Minnesota. Preceding him in death were his brothers, Peter and Otis, and his sister, Ida.
