Obituary

Norman Phillip Swennes, son of Lee and Gladys (Martin) Swennes, was born August 3, 1930, near Clarkfield, Minnesota. On October 20, 1933, he was baptized into the Christian faith at the Clarkfield Methodist Church. On June 17, 1945, he was confirmed in the now Christ Lutheran Church at Cottonwood. He enlisted in the National Guard in 1947. The group was acivated into the Army in January of 1951 and was in Korea from August until March of 1952, when Norman received and honorable discharge. On September 26, 1953, he was united in marriage with Ethel Johnson at the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church of Hanley Falls, Minnesota. During his lifetime he was engaged in the occupation of farming near Hanley Falls. He died Sunday morning, April 26, 1964, at the family farm near Hanley Falls. He had attained the age of 33 years. Surviving to mourn his passing are his wife, Ethel; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Swennes; one brother, Alan, of Cottonwood; one sister, Wanda (Mrs. Thomas Gunderson) of Des Moines, Iowa; nephews and nieces together with other relatives and friends.
