Obituary

Norman Benjamin Bott was born March 7, 1917, in Redwood County, Minnesota, to Benjamin and Elizabeth (Smith) Bott. Norman and Kathleen Mae Johnson were married on May 12, 1939, in Walnut Grove, Minnesota. Norman and Kathleen farmed the family farm for about 10 years near Walnut Grove and he also worked at Wieck's garage in Walnut Grove as an auto mechanic. In 1951, he purchased the Lucan Garage in Lucan, Minnesota. In 1962, he again decided to work on his own and purchased a garage in Hazel Run, Minnesota, and opened Bott's Garage. Norman operated his garage until 1986 when he suffered a stroke and retired. Norman loved to work on cars as well as fish, hunt, and dance polka. Norman and Kathleen moved to Valhalla Apartments in Clarkfield, Minnesota, in 1987 where he lived until he moved to the Clarkfield Care Center in 1999. Norman passed away at the Care Center on Saturday, February 5, 2005, at the age of 87 years, 11 months, and 2 days. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen, of 65 years; daughter Mary Ellen (and Al) Taylor of Tyler, Minnesota; and sons: David (and Shelly) Bott of Spanaway, Washington, and Mark (and Colleen) Bott of Clarkfield; nine grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Dorothy, Elizabeth, Martha, and Fern; infant son Gary; and infant daughter Jill. Blessed be his memory.
