Norbert Kerlin was born April 1, 1922 at Perham, Minnesota. As a young child he was raised by foster parents, Wilhelm and Ida Pipke of Omro Township, Boyd, Minnesota. Norbert was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, Omro Township. He attended St. John's School District #80 and also Clarkfield High School. Norbert worked in the Canby-Boyd area as a farm hand for many farmers from 1944-1987. He retired and lived on a farm in Tyro Township until 1993, when he entered the Clarkfield Care Center. Norbert was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Tyro Township. He enjoyed playing cards and loved walking up town in Clarkfield the past two years. He was a quiet man but enjoyed company and especially children. Norbert passed away on Saturday morning, January 27, 1996 at the Clarkfield Care Center at the age of 73 years, 9 months, and 27 days. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by sisters: Flora (and husband Herbert) Koepp of Clarkfield and Irene (and husband Luther) Schmidtke of Montevideo; and six nieces and nephews and many friends.
