Mrs. Albert (Nora) Loken, 88, slept away Monday, February 13, 1989, at the Senior Haven Nursing Home of Canby, Minnesota. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, February 16, 1989, from St. Lucas Lutheran Church of Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, with Pastor John T. Christiansen officiating. Organist will be Diane Gregoire with vocal music provided by Dwight D. Loken and John T. Christiansen. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Henry Broughton, Cecil Hofteig, Orville Kompelien, Thurman Kompelien, Raymond Severson and Edward Traen. Active Casket Bearers will be Howard Hanson, Erling Kompelien, Juel Oakland, Donovan, Larry and Rodney Stensrud. Final Resting Place will be St. Lucas Lutheran Church Cemetery, Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. Nora Otilda Hanson was born in Normania Township on March 16, 1900, to Charles and Marie (Nelson) Hanson. She was baptized April 22, 1900, and confirmed May 30, 1915, at St. Lucas Lutheran Church. She attended country school at Normania, Township. Music was her first love and she spent one year studying piano at the LaCrosse Wisconsin Music Conservatory. On December 2, 1924, she was united in marriage to Albert G. Loken of Swede Prairie Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. To this union seven children were born. She was very active in church, school and civic affairs. She served as chairman or committee member of many organizations; Ladies Aid, PTA, Farmers Union, DFL, Red Cross and Sister Kenny Drives. After the death of her husband, Nora remained on the Swede Prairie farm where they lived their life. Later years were spent in Clarkfield Valhalla Apartments, then going to the Clarkfield Care Center, then moving to Canby, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her husband Albert in 1957; and 11 month old daughter, Norma Kay in 1939; her parents, Charles O. and Marie; and four brothers, Melvin of Clarkfield, Edgar of Canby, Lief of Cottonwood, Minnesota and Bennett of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Nora is survived by sister and brother-in-law, Lillian and Al Droen of Crookston, Minnesota; sisters-in-law, Eunice Kranitz of Minneapolis and Sadie Hanson of Clarkfield; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lawrence and Sarah of Canby, Albert and Patricia of Marshall; four daughters and sons-in-law, Audrey and Russ Welch of Minneapolis, Wilva Borgen of Minneapolis, Ramona and Eldon Willander of Boyd, Minnesota, Dorothy and Dale Zimmerman of Porter, Minnesota. Grandma will be fondly remembered by 27 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Arrangements by Lynner Funeral Home Since 1891 Clarkfield Minnesota
