Obituary

Nobel J. Steffenson, 82, died Wednesday, April 8, 1992, at the Fairview Nursing Home in Dodge Center, Minnesota. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 14, at the Israel Lutheran Church with Pastor Gary Kubly officiating. Organist was Helen Werner. Soloist was Ross Riecke. Honorary casket bearers were Hilmer Appelwick, Bennie Eye, Ray Homan, Joe Hoff, John Gunlogson, Alfred Trandahl, and Darwin Van Stelten. Active casket bearers were Elden Appelwick, Ardell Benson, Arden Berg, Michael Gunlogson, Oscar Waller, and Eugene Werner. Burial was in the Israel Lutheran Cemetery in Swede Prairie Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. Nobel was born February 5, 1910, to George and Randy Anderson Fortun Steffenson in Swede Prairie Township, Yellow Medicine County. He was baptized and confirmed at Israel Lutheran Church of which he was a life-long member. He served many years on the cemetery board. He attended country school in Spring Creek District #102. Nobel lived and farmed almost all his life in Swede Prairie Township. In 1990 he moved to Hayfield, Minnesota. Nobel is survived by his niece Toni Phenix and husband Charles; great nephew Troy and great niece Kari. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Eline Arneson and her husband Kenneth.
