Nina Christensen was born September 14, 1995, to John and Gea (Hofteig) Gunlogson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended Gustavus Adolphus Academy in St. Peter, Minnesota and taught in the country school briefly. Nina married Carl Christensen on January 5, 1921. They built their home and farmed south of Clarkfield, Minnesota, where they were members of Spring Creek Lutheran Church. They raised a family of five children: Stanley, of Hanley Falls, Minnesota; Allan, of Bloomington, Minnesota; John, of Clarkfield; and LeRoy and Jane who together with her husband preceded her in death. Following Carl's death, Nina resided at Brookside Manor in Montevideo, Minnesota, and has since that time been cared for at the Clarkflield Care Center where she passed on January 12, 1983, at the age of 87 years. Besides her three sons she is survived by Allan's wife, Joyce, and children, Lisa, Heidi, and David; John's wife, Susan, and children Paul and Karen; her brothers, William, of Montevideo and John of Clarkfield; sister, Alice, of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and nieces and nephews. A favorite Bible verse of Nina's was Micah 6:8 which concludes, "What doth the Lord require of thee but to do justly, and to love mercy and to walk humbly with thy God?"
