Nicholas Heimer Johnson was born on February 7, 1990, in Montevideo, Minnesota, to parents Todd and Jolene (Moechnig) Johnson. He was baptized on April 8, 1990, and confirmed on September 18, 2005, both at Augustana Lutheran Church of Clarkfield, Minnesota. Nicholas was a junior at Yellow Medicine East High School in Granite Falls, Minnesota. He was involved in wrestling, baseball, FFA, the school musical, Knowledge Bowl, and a church youth leader. Nicholas enjoyed hunting, fishing, drawing, and spending time with his friends and family. Nicholas enjoyed life to the fullest and loved to make others laugh. Nick passed away on Wednesday evening, November 1, 2006, at Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at the age of 16 years, 8 months, and 25 days. He is survived by his parents, Todd and Jolene Johnson; his sisters and brothers Brooke, Logan, Dylan, and Rachel; his grandparents, Alvern and Karen Johnson of Clarkfield, Minnesota, John Moechnig of Lake City, Minnesota, John and Beverly Kackmann of Lake City, Minnesota; and Great grandmother Elvira Lichtblau of Lake City, Minnesota. He is also survived by aunts and uncles Jody and Mindi Rokusek of Sicily, Italy, Doug Moechnig of Woodbury, Minnesota, Rich and Cheryl Mackinac of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, and Chris and Lynette Matzke of Lake City, Minnesota; and cousins Brandon and Makayla Rokusek, Justin and Kayla Moechnig, Madeline and Allison Mackinac, and Olivia, Carson and Ella Matzke. Nick is also survived by his very special friend, Kayla Larson and a large extended family and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his great grandparents, Heimer and Alice Johnson, Ervin and Grace Sulflow, Wesley and Eleanor Moechnig, and Julius Lichtblau. Blessed be his memory.
