Newland Henry Severts was born November 10, 1908, to parents, Martin and Martha (Severson) Severts. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith and was a life long member of the Clarkfield Lutheran Church, Clarkfield, Minnesota. Newland spent most of his life farming in the Clarkfield area. He was a veteran of W.W. II, serving in the U.S. Army during the Pacific Theatre. Newland was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. On Sunday, February 4, 1990, Newland passed away at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital at the age of 81. He is survived by one brother, Edwin of the Clarkfield Care Center and several cousins in the Clarkfield and Theif River Falls, Minnesota areas. Newland was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Clarence; and two sisters, Stella in 1974, and Martha in 1982. Blessed be his memory.
