Nels Stokke was born on October 12, 1885, of parents Severt Stokke and Rachel (Nelson) Stokke. He spent his entire life in the Clarkfield, Minnesota community except for two years which were spent on a farm near Antler, North Dakota. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith by Rev. K. Thorstenson and confirmed by Rev. Martin Romstad and has continued his membership in St. Lucas Church until the time of his death. In 1911 he was united in marriage to Alma Anderson. To this union three children were born: Myrtle (Mrs. Alvin Hanson), Vernon, and Stanley who died in infancy. In 1945 Mr. and Mrs. Stokke moved to Clarkfield. Mrs. Stokke preceded him in death in 1960. Mr. Stokke passed away May 10, 1967, at his home at the age of 81 years. Besides his two children, he is survived by six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a brother and sister, Theodore and Rachel of Granite Falls, Minnesota. He was kind and understanding and will be greatly missed. He was blessed with unusually good health and contentment and passed away peacefully while his son was visiting him. Blessed be his memory.
