Nels Aarrestad was born March 2, 1883, to Ole and Rachel (Salen) Aarrestad who then lived on a farm near Cottonwood, Minnesota. While still a small boy, Nels moved with his parents to Normania Township where they had bought a piece of prairie land and began building the house where he lived until he passed away on Saturday morning, November 9, 1974, at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital. He attended public school in District 45, Normania Township, and in his late teens he took a two year course in the academic department of Red Wing Seminary. November 27, 1914, he married Marie Kloster of Spicer, Minnesota. To this union, two sons, Joel and Robert were born. Having lived on the old home farm since a small boy, and later farmed the land himself, Nels was well known in the community. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie, and his son Robert, his parents, two brothers and five sisters. He is survived by his son Joel, his second wife Adeline, his sister Edna, and seven nieces and nephews. IN MEMORY OF NELS O.
