(Nelson) Josephson
December 27, 1893 – March 22, 1959
Mrs. Nellie Marie (Nelson) Josephson was born December 27, 1893, at Canby, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Nels C. Nelson and Annie R. (Amundson) Nelson. She was baptized and confirmed in St. Stephen Lutheran Church of Canby. She attended Canby High School and Normal Training. She also attended Mankato Teacher's College and taught in rural schools in the vicinity of Canby and Minneota for six years. She was married to Helgi Josephson on June 12, 1928, at Canby. To this union twin daughters were born. Nellie and Helgi Josephson lived on a farm near Hanley Falls until 1956 when they retired and moved to their present home in Hanley Falls. She was active many years in church activities, and received her life membership in the Yellow Medicine Mission Guild. Also, she was a past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Josephson passed away March 22, 1959, at Downey, California, at the age of 65 years. She is survived by her husband, Helgi, and two daughters, Patsy (Mrs. Arnold Palmer) of Minneapolis and Betty (Mrs. Harlan Fritz) of Cincinnati, Ohio; and four grandchildren. Also two sisters: Alta (Mrs. Ben Long) of Nipigon, Ontario, and June (Mrs. Lyle Schoephoerster) of Downey, California, and two brothers, Grant Nelson of Pontiac, Michigan, and Arnold Nelson of St. Paul, besides several nieces and nephews.
