In Loving Memory of Myrtle Olson Myrtle Olson was born December 19, 1899, in Vallers Township in rural Cottonwood, Minneota, the daughter of Knute and Annetta (Miller) Reishus. She passed away on Sunday, December 8, 1991, at the Weiner Memorial Nursing Home, Marshall, Minnesota, at the age of 91 years, eleven months and eight days. Myrtle became a child of God through Holy Baptism on February 11, 1900, at St. Lucas Lutheran Church, rural Cottonwood. On June 7, 1914, she renewed her Baptismal Covenant through Confirmation at St. Lucas Lutheran Church. On August 25, 1925, she was united in marriage to Nuel Olson at the Silo Lutheran parsonage in Cottonwood. Following their marriage, they farmed south of Cottonwood until retiring in 1961 and then moved into Cottonwood. After her husband's death on December 29, 1972, she continued to live in her home until September 3, 1991, when she moved to the nursing home in Marshall, Minnesota. Myrtle touched many lives with her servant spirit. She was a dedicated homemaker and an active and faithful member of Christ Lutheran Church, Cottonwood. One of her joys was Project Love quilting day each month at her church. Through the years, she made many quilts for her family and Lutheran World Relief. She leaves to hope in the resurrection to eternal life, her daughter and husband, Fern and Marvin Merrill, Mankato, Minnesota; one son and wife, Kenneth and Lois, Cottonwood, Minnesota; daughter-in-law Charlotte (Mrs. Stan) Aamodt; nine grandchildren; one step-grandson; 17 great grandchildren; and three brothers: Stanley, Mesa, Arizona; Martin, Cottonwood, Minnesota, and Franklin, Rapid City, South Dakota. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Robert; her parents; one sister, Vivian Wendschuh; and six brothers: Orville, Clarence, Alfred, Norman, William and Howard Reishus.
