Obituary

Myrtle R. Loland was born on August 2, 1911, near Cottonwood, Minnesota, to parents Tobias and Ella (Larson) Loland. Myrtle spent a short time living in Chicago, Illinois, before returning to Minnesota. She worked at IGA Grocery in Cottonwood for many years. She also worked in the local restaurant. She was known as a "marvelous cook". She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She hosted the "Last Men's Club" for many years. She resided at Fieldcrest in Cottonwood before entering the Clarkfield Care Center, Clarkfield, Minnesota, in April of 2009. Myrtle passed away at the Care Center on Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at the age of 98 years and 1 month. Myrtle is survived by her son Wayne (and Gail) Loland of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, and granddaughter Amy (Brandon Zavada) Loland of New Hope, Minnesota. She is also survived by her sister Cecil Markgraf of Granite Falls, Minnesota, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers: Oscar, Selmer, Peter and sister Ethel Hogenson. Blessed be her memory.
