Myrtle Alida (Anderson) Appelwick was born on May 3, 1908, in Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to parents Albert and Nellie (Rudell) Anderson. She was baptized and confirmed at Fridheim Lutheran Church. She attended District #29 and Clarkfield High School, Clarkfield, Minnesota. Myrtle married Hilmer Appelwick on July 14, 1926, at the Dawson Church Parsonage, Dawson, Minnesota. They lived in Tyro Township until retiring in 1975, when they moved to Montevideo, Minnesota. They then moved to Granite Falls, Minnesota, and back to Montevideo. Following the death of Hilmer, she lived at Copper Glen Assisted Living, Montevideo, Minnesota, and in 1999, she became a resident at the Clarkfield Care Center, Clarkfield, Minnesota. Myrtle passed away at the Care Center on Sunday morning, November 24, 2002, at the age of 94 years, 6 months, and 21 days. She is survived by her sons: Elden (and Eleanor) of Minneota, Minnesota, and Hilding (and Lois) of Granite Falls, Minnesota. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Marlin (and Sharon Sellers) Appelwick, Diane O'Kanske, Kevin (and Elaine) Appelwick, Sharron (and Brian) Sauer, Steven (and Carol) Appelwick, and Shirley Appelwick. She is also survived by nine great grandchildren: Darren, Scott, Katelyn, Alex, Andrew and Lauren Appelwick and Georgia, Josephine, and Henry Brott; sister Anna (and Elmer) Anderson; and sisters-in-law Elda Anderson and Cecile Berg. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Alice (Heimer Johnson), Dora (Clifford Dotseth), Albertha (Forest Johnson), Alpha and Helen; brothers: Arthur and Harry Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.
