Myron Harland Velde was born May 1, 1933, in Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, the son of Melvin and Hilda (Winson) Velde. He was baptized May 28th, 1933, and confirmed December 12, 1948, by Rev. J.E.H. Akre. Myron started school at Clarkfield in 1939 and attended until February, 1942, when he was taken ill with rheumatic fever. He was able to return to school only after four years of invalidism, but his attendance was often interrupted by illness. He completed the ninth grade in 1950. On August 16th, Myron suffered a relapse and was taken to the Clarkfield Memorial Hospital where every effort was made for his recovery but his strength failed and he passed away Saturday evening, August 26th, 1950, at the age of 17 years, three months and 26 days. Myron was always kind and loving and leaves to mourn him his parents; two sisters, Linnae and Bernice; and grandmother, Mrs. Ole Velde; besides many other relatives and friends. He will be sadly missed by all.
