Obituary

Myron Gerhard Hoiland was born on October 19, 1907, at Marshall, Minnesota, to parents Christ and Gertie (Hanson) Hoiland. He was baptized and confirmed as a young man and attended school through the 8th grade. Myron entered the United States Army on April 22, 1942. He served his country until November 15, 1945. He achieved the rank of Corporal and served in Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. On April 15, 1946, Myron and Inez J. Gjervold were united in marriage at Hopkins, Minnesota. They were the parents of a son, James A. Prior to the many years of farming by Myron and Inez, Myron and his brother operated a sheet metal business in Marshall, Minnesota. He lived in the Cottonwood, Minnesota area until he moved to Anoka, Minnesota, in 2000. Myron loved fishing, hunting and golf. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. Myron passed away on Monday, February 25, 2002, at the Anoka Care Center at the age of 94 years, 4 months, and 6 days. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law James and Margaret Hoiland of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; granddaughter Holly Hoiland; and grandson Ross Hoiland. He is also survived by two brothers: Murl and Oran, both of Mesa, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his wife, Inez, in 1987; three brothers: Anfin, Gerald and Christopher; and sister Esther Glancy. Blessed be his memory.
