Myron Vincent Friberg was born April 15, 1910, to Clarkfield settler, Sven A. Friberg and Amanda (Willander) Friberg. He was the fourth of their ten children. Myron was baptized and confirmed in the Augustana Lutheran Church of Clarkfield and attended the Clarkfield Schools. He married Muriel Mikelson July 14, 1940, and they made their home in Clarkfield. They had three daughters: Marcia, Carol and Susan. In 1942, Myron began work for the Minnesota State Highway Department. In 1944, he was called into the Armed Service and while there, served in the European Theater. Also, he was selected as one of the honor guards for President Truman. Upon his discharge in 1945, he returned to work with the highway department and retired in 1975 after 31 years. Myron and Muriel have owned and operated the Corner Grocery since 1953. He passed away November 22, 1980, at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital at the age of 70 years. Survivors include his wife, Muriel; daughters: Marcia (Mrs. Leo Flattum) of Clarkfield, Carol (Mrs. Wes Seyller) of Kansas City, Missouri, and Susan (Mrs. Patrick Gotchie) of Minneapolis; nine grandchildren; three brothers: Raymond of Eugene, Oregon, Chester of Montevideo, Minnesota, and Harold of Clarkfield; three sisters: Fidelia (Mrs. Eugene Crumrine) of Edmunds, Washington, Marcella (Mrs. Milo Mikelson) of St. Peter, Minnesota, and Gwendolyn (Mrs. Fred Ballard) of Seattle, Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Victor, Sidney and Arthur. IN MEMORY OF MYRON V.
