Myrlan O. Flugstad of Minneapolis was born in Pipestone, Minnesota, on May 23, 1902, the son of Ole Flugstad and Malesa (Anderson) Flugstad. Most of his childhood and youth was spent in Granite Falls, Minnesota. Several of his youth years he worked for the local telephone company. He was of the Lutheran faith and was baptized and confirmed in the Granite Falls Lutheran Church. Later, in Montevideo he was a member of the Norwegian Lutheran Church. He moved with his family to Boyd, Minnesota, where he was telephone manager for five years, then moving to Clarkfield and worked with Northern States Power Company here and Bird Island. He was active in many organizations in Clarkfield, Minneapolis and Hutchinson. After early retirement, he moved his family to Minneapolis. Surviving are his widow Ema; a son David and wife Norma of Bloomington; three grandchildren: Jon, Mark and Kathy; sisters-in-law: Athalia Skaug and Isabelle Halvorson both of Minneapolis. On December 30 the family received a letter from Northern States Power Company by D.C. McCarthy president, stating that they were very proud of his 42 faithful years of service, which he had before his retirement. IN MEMORY OF MYRLAN O.
