(Mikelson) Friberg
August 27, 1918 – July 14, 1940
Former Clarkfield, Minnesota business woman Muriel Friberg, 66, died Monday morning at the Montevideo Hospital. For many years, she ran the Corner Grocery, now operated by her daughter Marcia Flattum of Clarkfield. She currently lived in the community. Friberg was married to Myron Friberg, son of Clarkfield settler Swen A. Friberg. She and husband Myron owned and operated the store for 30 years. She lived her entire life in Clarkfield. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 8, 1984, at the Augustana Lutheran Church of Clarkfield with Rev. Ralph Belin officiating. The organist was Mrs. Rhoda Nelson with vocal music by Lester Mikelson. A Greeting from the family was brought by Rev. Richard Nelson. Casket Bearers were Charles Dalager, John Dyste Jr., Lee Grinager, Edward Helgeson, Peter Mikelson and Donald Nelson. Final Resting Place is the Fridhem Lutheran Cemetery, Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. She was born August 27, 1918, to Emil and Nettie (Wilson) Mikelson of Clarkfield. The second of seven children, she was baptized and confirmed in the Clarkfield Lutheran Church and graduated from Clarkfield High School. On July 14, 1940, she married Myron Friberg. Survivors include daughters Mrs. Marcia (Leo) Flattum of Clarkfield, Mrs. Carol (Wes) Seyller of Kansas City, Missouri; Mrs. Susan (Pat) Gotchie of Elaine, Minnesota; nine grandchildren; brothers Harris of Lincoln, Illinois, Richard of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, and sisters Lucille Nelson of Remer, Minnesota, Evelyn Dalager of Minneota, Minnesota, Dorothy Dyste of Forman, North Dakota, and Ruth Ziemann of Hudson, Minnesota. She was preceded by her husband Myron in 1980 and her parents.
