Monte Leroy Anderson was born on May 18, 1932 in Montevideo, Minnesota, the son of Mont and L. Odella (Nodschilder) Anderson. He grew up and attended school in Montevideo, graduating from the Montevideo High School in 1950. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in September 1952 and served two years. On November 14, 1954, Monte was united in marriage to Marie Ann Hegna at the Granite Falls Lutheran Church Chapel. Monte and Marie were the parents of four children: Janine, Beverly, Brian, and Marty. Monte owned and operated a welding shop in Montevideo from 1961-1965. In 1965 he moved to Granite Falls where he owned and operated a welding shop and where he has worked to the present. Monte was a member of the Granite Falls VFW Post 3871. Monte passed away at his home in Minnesota Falls Township, Granite Falls, early Sunday morning, August 20, 1995 at the age of 63 years, 3 months, and 2 days. He is survived by his wife, Marie, of Granite Falls; two sons: Brian (wife Robin) of Watertown, South Dakota, and Marty (wife Mary) of Toledo, Ohio; two daughters: Janine (husband Jeff) Hansen of Engelwood, Florida, and Beverly Mueller of Eagle Lake, Minnesota. He is also survived by four grandchildren, a brother, Robert O. Anderson of Anchorage, Alaska and brother-in-law, Arnold Hegna of Granite Falls; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, and one infant grandson.
